Creating abstract paintings on the iPhone is an immersive experience.  Unlike  paintings where I am constantly looking up at a reference photo or a live subject, abstracts allow me to concentrate completely on the image being created.  Touching the screen and moving about the app, chosing brushes and colors, adding layers, pinching in and out make for a type of hypnotic dance, and I often feel like I am part of the painting.  

The digital nature of this art form allows for a level of detail that would be almost impossible to achieve with traditional media.  These images can be printed extremely large and still retain very high resolution.  They can be printed on a myriad of archival surfaces, from canvas to dozens of paper surfaces and textures.
